The
Mysterious Minutes
Below is a link to the minutes of the MMA Board's August 24
meeting. These minutes are interesting in that nowhere in
them is there any mention of the intent to purchase Abbott
House, although the Board or individuals on it had already
taken action to purchase the house.
There are Maine statutes that specify how the Board of a
state-financed institution is to conduct such business, and
it appears that the MMA Board, as is its habit, ignored
most of those that pertain the the Abbott House purchase.
Later, at the November 9 Board meeting, these same minutes
were voted to be accepted and then this vote was rescinded
and pushed out to the February 2008 Trustees meeting. No
reason was offered for this odd action.
Here are the original minutes. It will be interesting to
compare them to the ones offered in February.
